The Deep as a member of BIAZA, the British and Irish Association of Zoos and Aquariums across the UK, British Overseas Territories and Crown Dependencies expresses their deep sadness and grief at the passing of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth ll. The Queen was an extraordinary figure and we want to pay our profound and utmost respects at this sad time.

Her Majesty will be remembered fondly as an animal lover and a fantastic advocate for the work of zoos and aquariums to save species and create a better world. She enjoyed a lifetime of visits to zoos from memorable times as a Princess meeting giant pandas to meeting elephants as a Queen.

The Deep will remain open but as a sign of respect there will be no sound or guide presentations during your visit on Friday 9th September 2022. We hope that you will find The Deep a tranquil site for reflection. We ask that at this difficult time visitors show respect for each other.

The Deep will be closed for the state funeral of the Queen and will await official guidance.

If you have pre-booked and no longer wish to visit at this difficult time, we would be happy to offer a refund or rearrange your visit. Please email your name, postcode and booking reference to info@thedeep.co.uk
